Shoreline Erosion Control Brunswick ME

Linkel Environmental Construction has over 30 years of experience working in one of the most vulnerable areas on Maine’s coastline. Our goal is to stabilize the shoreline slope. The particular combination of height, exposure, soil type and ground water led to extreme erosion events and endangered existing homes. On going, rapid erosion culminated with the homeowner losing forty feet of the front lawn in just one day.

Whenever we find ourselves working with highly sensitive areas, we look to stabilize the base of the slope.

Every project is different – sometimes the same project is different from one side to the other. In this case, we excavated a trench at the toe of the slope and built a stone revetment. Soil was removed from the top of the slope and placed behind the revetment. This was done to take pressure off of the top and help balance the slope.

Next, we installed a drainage system through the slope at the elevation of the ground water.  The drainage system collects the water and moves it safely down the slope, preventing the soils from becoming saturated. The slope was then  stabilized with a specially designed erosion control blanket, seeded and planted.

The owner reports the shoreline erosion control continues to do the trick. If you have any questions or want more information give us a call at 725-1438 or drop us an email.
