Mechanic

Linkel Environmental Construction is seeking to hire a new team member to help our growing business. Linkel Environmental Construction is a family-owned, private excavation company specializing in site work within ecologically sensitive areas. We specialize in shoreline stabilization, dam removals, dam modifications, fish passage installations and stream restorations.

We operate a diverse fleet of vehicles as well as heavy equipment to facilitate our operations. Vehicles range in size from crew vans up to and including crane trucks, multi-axle dump trucks etc. We use excavators, skid-steer loaders, tracked utility carriers, compactors, rollers, and other heavy equipment on a daily basis.

We are seeking to add a full-time shop manager/mechanic to our growing team. The right individual will be a motivated, self-starting individual, preferably with experience working on diesel engines/vehicles. The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to change plans on a moment’s notice depending on the emerging needs of the company.

Required Qualifications:

  • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License
  • 1-2 years’ experience in automotive repair
  • Good working knowledge of welding and fabrication
  • Willingness to learn new techniques/processes
  • Flexible attitude, willing to drive truck one day, repair excavator the next etc.
  • Capable of working alone or as part of team with equal success

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on heavy equipment
  • Working knowledge of Diesel emissions systems
  • Working knowledge of electronic/wiring for trucks/trailers etc.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements for shop activities

The right candidate for this position will be an independent, self-starter who is motivated to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The right candidate will work in close cooperation with the company Operations Manager to ensure the construction crew’s needs are met and critical equipment is maintained in a safe, efficient manner. This position is ideal for candidates that are equally comfortable working with a small team or alone depending on the company needs.
